Howdy Doody G&V

By Jon Chambers

On completion of my Bootcamp I set off to find my new role as a developer in Bristol when I stumbled across G&V, after reading the job description I wanted to get an application in ASAP.

A couple of weeks later I had my first visit to the office for my final stage interview then was off to the city centre for a pre holiday covid test. 72 hours later I woke up at 4am slightly jet lagged in the Caribbean to an email with a job offer and an invitation to join the team hiking the Sugar Loaf in Wales, if fair to say I was excited and a little nervous at the same time.

I can’t say I have ever had an invitation to hike up a mountain as part of my onboarding process but that’s definitely something that solidified my decision to join the team at G&V. It was a great opportunity to meet the team before my first day in the office, as someone who leans more towards the introverted side it gave me more confidence and made my first day much more comfortable already having spent a full day fully engaged with the team and getting to know everyone, it was kind of like having a 1 to 1 with each team member … while hiking up the mountain.

When my first day came around the normal first day nerves felt different as I knew what I was walking into, it was a good feeling. I already knew that I was joining an amazing and supportive team. Over a month into my role now I feel part of the Wolfpack, the imposter syndrome of starting my first developer role has fallen to the back of my mind with the support of the build team and I am excited for what the future holds for me here at Goram & Vincent.
